AGS is developing microalgae extracellular vesicles (MEVs), a universal drug delivery system, for oral administration of biologics (peptides, proteins, DNAs, RNAs). Produced by Chlorella, a single cell microalgae, MEVs are natural nanocarriers of bioactive molecules that can be orally administered for safe transport through the harsh environment of the stomach directly to lymphoid cells in the GALT and the spleen, rather than the bloodstream. Lila Drittanti, Ph.D., AGS Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, explains how MEVs have the potential to be among the first successful oral delivery systems for vaccines and immunomodulatory therapeutics.

AGS’ microalgae extracellular vesicles (MEVs) have the potential to deliver therapeutics directly into the brain through intranasal administration to the olfactory tract, bypassing the difficult to cross blood brain barrier, to treat many serious brain diseases. An effective delivery system is particularly important for the latest innovative biologics such as RNAs (mRNA, siRNA, miRNA), proteins, peptides, oligonucleotides. MEVs are natural nanocarriers of bioactive molecules that can be loaded with all kinds of biologics and studies show they easily reach various regions of the brain when administered intranasally in liquid drops. Francois Roman, Ph.D., Scientific advisor of AGS, explains how MEV therapeutics may offer the best hope of ushering in a new era of treatment for patients with brain diseases.

RNA therapeutics are all the rage in biomedical research, but to work, they need an effective delivery system. AGS may have found the answer in Chlorella, a 2 billion-year-old single cell microalgae which produces natural nanocarriers called extracellular vesicles that can serve as a universal delivery system for RNA and all kinds of other biologics. Marie-Helene Leopold, AGS' Chief of Corporate Development, explains how microalgae extracellular vesicles (MEVs) can transform RNA into effective therapeutics.

Les crises constituent des circonstances idéales pour opérer des changements : un ‘éclipse viral’ comme une fenêtre pour réévaluer la structure dans sa substance et sa pertinence première, initiale.
